About me

"I’m proud to call Yellowknife my hometown, and committed to making it the best city it can be."

I grew up in Yellowknife and began my career in small business at the age of 21, as the owner of Javaroma Gourmet Coffee and two other related businesses. I became involved in civic matters in the early 2000s out of concern for the deteriorating state of Yellowknife’s downtown core. Before long I developed a passion for civic engagement and broadened my community involvement to include work as a director of the Northern Manufacturers’ Association and the City of Yellowknife’s Smart Growth Committee, as founding President of the Long John Jamboree and later as the Jamboree's director of fundraising, and as a current member of the YZF Economic Advisory Committee.

In 2011, following completion of a History degree at the University of British Columbia, I began a career in real estate. As the broker and owner of Century 21 Prospect Realty - now Yellowknife's largest real estate brokerage - I am able to combine my love of entrepreneurial enterprise with my passion for recruiting newcomers to our city. In 2018, I was elected by my industry colleagues to be President of the Yellowknife Real Estate Board, where I am working to improve consumer protection in the industry.

In 2016, during my second term on City Council, I was appointed as Deputy Mayor by my City Council peers, a role I both enjoyed and took very seriously until stepping down in 2018. As Deputy Mayor, I took the lead on some important files and represented the City in welcoming visiting delegations from around the world.

With the support of my partner, Allison, I am excited for the opportunity to represent the concerns of Yellowknifers and lead City Council as we, together, tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
